CLASSIFYING AXLES

There are two frequently used arrays of treadles when verifying type an number of axles.

 

Disposition

 

1. Two parallel treadles, arranged one after the other at a variable distance (X), to verify the number of axles composing a set, an axle set can be single or multiple (double, triple or more axles). Besides, treadles can detect the vehicle direction, if a vehicle goes reverse the treadles can substract the axles.


2. Two parallel treadles, arranged one after the other at a distance (Y), so that a single tire axle steps on the sensors one by one, but a double tire axle steps both sensors simultaneously; these treadles are angled at aproximately 53° (Z), set from the long axis of the lane, this array allows to detect single or dual wheels.

When treadles are pressed both at one time, the axle has dual wheels, otherwise it has single wheels.


 

 

 

TYPICAL DISPOSITIONS FOR A LANE

The length of the treadles will be set according to the width of the lane.
